Alaska... One of the planet’s mythical riding spots, renowned across the world for its steep, endless runs, paradise for heliskiers. Ride unmatched terrain and discover real Alaska most just dream about.

Note: These trips are not exclusive to expert skiers or snowboarders. I work the same way when using the chopper as when using the lift system: pick the runs matching your skiing abilities and backcountry experience to maximize your pleasure safely.

Alaska, largest state across the USA (615 232 sq.mi), with a sparse population (644 000 inhabitants) and representing the Northernmost and Westernmost point of American soil, it is only seprated from Russia by the Bering strait. AK exists like most of North America was a few hundred years ago.

Haines, a tiny town in South-East AK, has a Native American background and makes its living through fishing and tourism. The Chilkat Valley is homeland of the Tinglit Indians still active in the local life. Within 45 miles from the Canadian border, Haines lives peacefully far away from the madness of large cities, surrounded by wild and tough but true nature.

The town’s backyard, sheltered by a deep fjord, edged with salmon-filled rivers, and ringed with the huge Takhinsha Mountains, attracts heliskiing devotees. Iodine in the air from the nearby Pacific Ocean gives the snowpack this perfect density to grip to the steeps. Haines, AK, boasts the biggest mountains, deepest powder and sunniest skies in Alaska!

Want to experience incredible riding in other-worldly mountain landscapes? This is the place to go. Find out about real Alaska, wild but generous and ride terrain like no other...

Friend and journalist Ted Reckas reports his first time in Haines. Read his article Heliski Guide School in Alaska.pdf.
